Winter time is approaching and that means that frozen pipes are more common than not.
Here is how to spot potentially frozen pipes and what to do before water damage happens.
Prevent Frozen Pipes is To Prepare for Frozen Pipes
Prevention is the key to preparedness before dealing with frozen pipes.
- If your piping is covered in frost, or bulging, that means that it is probably frozen.
- Also, if no water coming out of faucets or filling up in toilets, that is also a sign of frozen pipes.
When noticing a frozen pipe, keep in mind that the ice acts a barrier between water and the crack in the pipe. So when thawing the pipe, prepare for water leakage, depending on the size of the crack. Space heaters or hair dryers are options to warm the pipe.
When there is water damage, turn off the water supply valve and call SERVPRO of Sherman/Denison to remove water, mediate mold, and dry out the area.
